When you come to Matoaca United Methodist Church, you will find a community gathered together to worship God, hear God's Word, pray, sing, and encourage one another in faith.

Whether you have been attending church for years or are visiting a church for the first time, you are welcome here. Come as you are.

From River Road, turn onto Wilcox Street and park in either the parking lot or one of the handicap spaces if needed.  Enter from the rear entrance that provides a fully accessible path to the Sanctuary or stroll through the garden to the front entrance.

Once inside, an usher will be happy to provide a Worship Bulletin and assist you in any way you need.  

What to Expect

Worship at Matoaca UMC is mostly traditional, with occasional contemporary music. Each Sunday we gather to worship God through prayer, singing, Scripture, and the proclamation of God's Word. Our small choir regularly helps lead us in worship.

Our services typically last about an hour. You'll find a mixture of dress styles—from casual to more formal—so come dressed in whatever is comfortable for you.

Sunday School

Sunday School is offered at 9:45 a.m., before worship. If you would like to participate, you're welcome to join us.

Holy Communion

We celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month, and everyone is welcome at Christ's table.

You do not have to be a member of Matoaca UMC—or even a member of a church—to participate in worship or receive Communion.

Children

Children are welcome in worship. At special services when we anticipate children being present, we include a children's time as part of worship.
